Abstract
114,857. Marks, E. C. R., (Hydraulic Pressed Steel Co.). Jan. 18, 1917. Casting in situ.-Mould plates, Fig. 3, preferably formed of planks 5 faced with metal 6 on the inside, are provided on the ends with channelirons 8 and cover-plates 9 for the rabbets 5<a>, and angle-irons 7 on the top and bottom edges. The plates are held against a framework of posts 1 and sills 35 by clamps 10 and wedges 18, Fig. 4, which are driven in locking-bolts 14 engaging keyhole slots 13 in the posts and formed with tongues 16 and heads 15. The bolts, permanently secured in the clamps, are inserted in the posts and the heads 15 then formed on them to prevent removal from the posts before the plates 4 are secured in place, and the length of the bolt is such that when the head 15 is just inside the slot 13, the clamp and bolt can be turned together through a right-angle. To assemble the parts, the mould boards are placed in position as shown in Fig. 4, and the wedges 18 then driven home to force the legs 10 of the clamps against the channel-irons 8. When the concrete has set, the bolt is loosened, moved to the centre of the slot 13, and then partly withdrawn with the clamps; the clamps and bolt are then turned through a right-angle and the wedge is tightened to secure the clamp. For hollow walls, flat metal ties 19, embedded in the concrete, are provided with loops 20 which are temporarily held by a bolt 22 passed through the post and having a collar 23 on its outer end. The inner mould boards are supported by angle-irons 31 slid able on Z-shaped members 28 welded to the ties 19, and by channelirons 32, 33 which taper in opposite directions; a third channel-iron 34 is welded to the channel 33 and embraces the flange of the member 32. The sills 35, made of notched channel-iron, brace the posts and are provided with short channeliron packing-pieces 37 welded opposite the notches. Bolts 38 are passed through the faces of the pests and through slots on the pieces 37, and receive wedges 39.
