A conveyer system comprises an endless driven chain 10 suspended by rollers 13 from a chain track 12 and having driving dogs 14 fixed thereto, and load-carrying wheeled trolleys 16 running on a double channel trolley track 15 beneath the chain 10, each trolley 16 having a gravity-biased driving shoe 20 pivoted at 18 to the trolley so as to be movable between a dog disengaged position and a dog engaging position, wherein each trolley 16 has at its rear a shoe displacer 23 mounted on a load spacer 22 and engageable with the driving shoe 20 of a following trolley to pivot it into the dog disengaged position. The system comprises a plurality of groups of work or holding stations of which only one station is provided with a trackmounted solenoid-operated shoe lifter and trolley stopper. The shoe displacer 23 is supported at its rear end on the surface of the track 15, and is pivoted at 40a to a rear carriage 34 of the spacer 22. The rear carriage 34 is pivoted to a bar 25 pivoted to an intermediate carriage 26 which is pivoted to a bar 24 pivoted to the rear of the trolley 16. The retarding shoe 21 is pivoted at 19 to the trolley 16 and is gravity-biased. A buffer 41 is mounted on the rear carriage 34 and is spring loaded or of resilient material.
