Abstract
1,147,783. Ethylene oxide. HALCON INTERNATIONAL Inc. 10 May, 1966 [14 May, 1965], No. 20709/66. Addition to 1,020,759. Heading C2C. [Also in Division B1] Ethylene is oxidized in vapour phase to ethylene oxide using a catalyst prepared by impregnating support particles having an average diameter of up to <SP>3</SP>/ 16 inch, a porosity of at least 48%, an average pore diameter of 10-70 Á and a surface area of not more than 1 m.<SP>2</SP>/gm., with an aqueous solution of a silver salt, separating, drying and activating in an oxygen containing atmosphere. Examples describe the passage of ethylene air mixtures over catalysts at 245‹ C. and 1 atmosphere.
