1,147,454. Gramophone centre-post mechanisms. GARRARD ENG. Ltd. 1 July, 1966 [14 July, 1965], No. 29971/65. Heading G5R. In a device of the type disclosed in Specification 951,972 in which retraction of latch 3 releases record A and a cam actuated deflector 10 co-operates on one side of the spindle with the bore of a record B to move it laterally of the spindle so that the opposite edge of the bore of the record enters into a recess 7 and is supported by a bevelled shoulder 8, the deflector 10 has an upwardly extending resiliently flexible tail 12 with a lower portion 13 of reduced thickness which permits angular outward movement of deflector 10 until its reduced-thickness lower end portion 14 is clear of the outer surface of the spindle. A guide bush 12a on the end of tail 12 has a frictional fit in spindle extension 6 and is movable downwardly by means of a rod 5 and two thrust bushes 15, 16. If there are any records on the stack downward movement of rod 5 is arrested by abutment of deflector 10 on a record but if the last record has been released further downward movement of the rod is permitted. This further movement is used to switch off the mechanism. If is stated that the invention will work reliably irrespective of whether, when more than one record is left, the record resting on the latch means has a hole of smaller diameter than the next-following record in the stack.
