Abstract

In a traffic detector arrangement of the type having electrical conductors D arranged in an area passed by the traffic such that changes in capacitance, inductance or mutual inductance are used to control indicating and/or counting devices Z, an additional conductor p is included which can be short-circuited by a switch k so as to affect the conductors D and simulate the passage of a vehicle. This tests whether the detector is operating correctly. By pressing a test key T, at a control centre Ze relay K is energized via t 2 ; this operates contacts k so that the additional loop p modifies the inductance of the detector loop D. When the test key is pressed a voltage is applied to a delayed alarm relay A. If the detector is functioning correctly the change in inductance when the additional loop is short-circuited, is detected and relay V is energized. Contact v opens and the 'delayed alarm relay A does not operate. If there is a fault, relay V is not energized and relay A operates a bell W. The key T can be operated repetitively at predetermined time intervals by a programme generator.
