Abstract

1,146,547. Optical apparatus. CARL ZEISS JENA VEB. July 14, 1966, No.31606/66. Heading G2J. In a spectroscope combined with a microscope the dispersing element is a reflecting echelon grating 10 and a light entrance aperture 4 is arranged in the image-ray path 6 of the microscope objective. As shown a housing 1 is attached to the microscope tube 2, after removal of the eye-piece, so that rays 6 from the microscope objective are collimated by lens 7, dispersed by the grating 10, focused by lens 11 and reflected at 20 on to the photographic plate 18, the spectral range being adjusted by turning a screw 17 and thus pivoting the grating 10 about axis 15. To observe the spectrum which is being produced on plate 18, a mirror 12 may be inserted to deflect the beam through lens 9 to the focal plane 13 of an eye-piece 14. Alternatively the removable mirror 12 may be replaced by a beam divider. In order initially to focus the spectroscope, to conform to the microscope, a prism 8 is inserted to deflect the beam through lens 9 to eye-piece 14 before reaching the grating 10.
