Abstract
114,640. Seward, E. March 6, 1917. Mine props.-A reinforced-concrete pit prop or like support consists of a column or strut in which the longitudinal rods B are combined with metal keeps or spacing-members such as collars C, Fig. 4, or wire hoops e, Fig. 5. The rods are passed through holes in the collars, or are secured to the hoops by a wire binding f. The reinforcement is sheathed from end to end with expanded metal, wire netting, or spiral wiring b. The roof or base support blocks G, Fig. 7, also reinforced with rods, keeps, and sheathing, are formed at the ends with notches K to engage corresponding bevelled ends K<1> on the props, and on their upper or lower faces may have grooves or flats to receive wedges. Independent wedges may be applied on the upper ends of the props, and the lower ends may be made convex.
