Abstract

[Also in Division F1] A valve has a plunger 33 controlling the flow between a fluid-pressure inlet 54 and outlets 53, 55 via a circumferential groove 47 and actuated by a piston 42 moving in a cylinder 41 through a two-armed lever 35, 36 and a link 37 pivoted at the fixed point 38. The link 37 and arm 36 form a toggle linkage which holds the plunger in one end position and is broken by fluid pressure admitted in cylinder 41 via port 46 from a spring-closed piston-cylinder operated pilot valve. When the toggle linkage is broken a spring 39 assists or completes the plunger movement. The plunger is moved in the opposite direction when fluid pressure is admitted via port 45 into cylinder 41 from a fluidpressure responsive relief valve.
