Abstract

1,144,735. Chains. AMSTED INDUSTRIES Inc. 17 Jan., 1967, No. 2505/67. Heading F2Q. A chain link member formed from flat sheet metal material comprises two spaced side bars 12, a pair of oppositely directed hooks 14, 16 at one end and a hook 18 at the other end, the free ends of the hooks being substantially aligned with the side bars 12. Hook 18 includes a portion 20 which engages hook 16 of an adjacent link to prevent interconnected links from uncoupling when they are flexed in a direction opposite to that in which they are flexed when engaged with a sprocket. Aperture 10 is increased in width at points 10a adjacent the hook 18 to avoid the possibility of binding of an engaging hook 14. An assembly of links forming a power transmission chain is shown in Fig. 4.
