Abstract

1,144,297. Steam generators. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. 16 May, 1967 [16 May, 1966], No. 22584/67. Heading F4A. A steam generator comprises tubes 10 for liquid sodium from a nuclear reactor closed at their ends by convex portions and connected in series by transverse tubes 14, water or steam tubes 12 being disposed within tubes 10 and connected by curved portions 19. The generator is in the form of three identical modules disposed in a cell 1 of refractory bricks containing nitrogen-enriched air. Each module comprises an upper portion of two series of four tubes 10 mounted in parallel to form a superheater and re-superheater, Fig. 2 (not shown), one series being fed from a sodium inlet collector 2, and the other from sodium inlet collector 3. The lower portion of the module comprises a vaporizer. Sodium outlet collector 4, water collector 5, superheated vapour collector 6, collector 7 for vapour to be re-superheated and re-superheated vapour collector 8 are provided. A branch tube 15 has a safety diaphragm 16 to connect the sodium tubes to a collector 17 connected to atmosphere if excess pressures occur. The tubes are supported by bolted beams 11.
