Abstract

1,143,923. Polishing materials. RANK XEROX Ltd. 5 April, 1966 [6 April, 1965], No. 15197/66. Heading C4V. A polishing material comprises abrasive particles having a particle size below 1-5 microns and solid lubricant particles dispersed in a volatile liquid medium. As described, the abrasive particles can include cerium oxide, chromic oxide, aluminium oxide and diamond, the solid lubricant is zinc stearate and the volatile liquid can be ligroin, isopropylalcohol, trichloroethylene, solvent naphtha and any organic solvent which does not mix with water. The liquid medium volatilizes during polishing so that it changes from a suspension to a powder. The medium is stated to be suitable for polishing the photo-conductive surface of a xerographic plate.
