A polysulphide polymer composition is adhesively bonded to a hydraulic cementitious or an asphaltic substrate by applying to the substrate a primer composition comprising a halogenated rubber and a polyisocyanate compound. Suitable halogenated rubbers include chlorobutyl rubber, chlorinated and brominated natural rubber, chlorinated polyethylene, chlorsulphonated polyethylene, and polychlorgarene. The primer composition is preferably dissolved in a solvent and the composition may contain plasticisers. The primer is preferably brushed onto the substrate and the curable liquid polysulphide rubber is applied thereto. The substrate can be wet.
