Abstract

1,143,675. Rotary positive-displacement pumps. R.C. FORD, P.J. SKIPPER and J.V. VOBE. May 6, 1966, No.20020/66. Addition to 1,103,271. Heading F1F. A rotary pump of the nutating-disc type according to the parent Specification is improved or modified in that the shutter blades 11 are furnished with longitudinal recesses 16 of arcuate profile in crosssection and engaging with radial grooves 17 of matching configuration, which grooves are formed in the pumping member 1 so that the blades are rendered in sealing contact with said member while being permitted to pivot relative thereto when the member nutates. The shutter blades are secured to the member 1 by screws (13), Fig. 4 (not shown), each of which screws extends through a ball (15) carried by a part-spherical bearing (15a) lodged in the member 1 and having a curved outer-surface engaging with the recesses 16. The radiallyoutermost ends of the blades 11 may be either in contact or rendered integral, with each other.
