Abstract

1,142,481. Stamping; forging presses. DIDRO ENG. CO. 13 Jan., 1966, No. 1649/66. Headings B3H and B3Q. A press comprises die-pads 10, 12 supported on an hydraulic cushion consisting of three pistons 20, 24, 32 in cylinders to which hydraulic fluid is supplied under pressure from a tank 14 to raise the die-pads, and a pressure-regulating valve 60 for controlling the resistance of the die-pads during downward, working strokes of the press-ram (not shown). Thus the hydraulic cushion is separated from the ram-operating mechanism of a mechanical press. The piston 20 is formed integrally with piston 24, the unit being hollow and forming a cylinder for the piston 32. Connections 50, 56 are provided from the tank 14 to a cylinder 18 for piston 20 and to a valve housing 58 for the valve 60 and a oneway valve 62 controlling the supply to a cylinder 28 for the piston 24 and cylinder 30 for piston 32. The die-pads bear on rods 42, 48 connected to pistons 20, 32 respectively. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,031,204.
