Abstract

Adjustably sup - porti,ng flat endless belt elevators; driving-gear; idler rollers; portable elevators; tube and bar framework.-An elevator for sacks, bales, or packages is mounted on a wheeled frame A and comprises an endless belt G of duck, leather, or other flexible material provided on its upper surface with transverse laths g and mounted on a fixed frame B and a pivoted frame D. Each side of a frame is composed of top and bottom tubes and a metal or wooden plate b kept in place by straps b<1> passed over distance-pieces b<2>. Each frame is provided with end and intermediate rollers and below the adjacent ends of the frames is mounted a drum F having a groove f, Fig. 4, of sufficient width to receive the laths g. The drum F is driven by a motor P through belt gearing. The pivoted frame D rests on a roller j mounted between the upper ends of a pair of pivoted struts J which are raised and lowered by ropes, chains &c. K connected to winding drums on a cross-shaft prevented from rotating unintentionally in a direction to lower by pawls engaging ratchet wheels m. The roller may bE) replaced by a rod or projection which engages a slot in the underside of the frame D. The rollers C, C', c, E, E<1>, e may be mounted in the plates b or, if these plates are dispensed with, in brackets on the frames.
