Abstract

1,139,765. Tipping attachments for hoisting appliances; tipping containers. E. ASDAHL. 23 Feb., 1966, No. 8022/66. Headings B8E and B8H. A device for carrying, hoisting and tipping to unload, a bin 20 comprises a fork 4 mounted on a support 6 turnable about a horizontal stationary shaft 42, and a clamp 11 pivotally mounted on supports 10 extending up from the support 6 and which is pressed downwards against the top edge of the bin when the fork is turned in order to unload the bin. The clamp 11, of U-shape, is sprung or weighted to move it away from the bin for the placing on and removing of bins from the fork 4. A cable 28 attached to an eye 13 at each end of the clamp 11 passes through an eye 14 on each side of the rotatable support 5, 6 and through a bore in a flange 27 on the stationary shaft 42. Upon rotation of the fork 4, the cable 28 rests on the perimeter of the flange 27 whereby it is tensioned to pull the clamp 11 down on to the bin 20. A ratchet disc 8 on a bush 7 secured to the rotatable support 6 is engaged by a sprung latch 9 mounted on stationary framework 19. The latter framework is pivoted at 2, 3 to a parallel linkage, Fig. 4 (not shown), which is hydraulically operated to hoist the framework 19 and the bin 20. The latch 9 is released and the framework 6 rotated relative to the framework 19, by a cable 16 attached at one end to the latch, passing around a pulley block 17, through an eye 15 fixed on the framework 19 and having the other end fixed to the framework 6. The pulley 17 is adjustably connected to the linkage such that with the hoisting movement thereof, the cable 16 is tensioned causing the latch 9 to open and the support 6 to be rotated relative to the support 19 whereby the bin 20 is emptied. In another embodiment the support 6 is rotated by an hydraulic ram. In the embodiment of Figs. 5, 6 (not shown), the clamp (11) is pulled down on to the bin (20) spring loaded rod pivoted eccentrically to the stationary flange (27).
