Abstract
1,139,654. Treating animals. UNIVERSITY OF SYDNEY. 29 June, 1967 [30 June, 1966], No. 30049/67. Addition to 1,067,505. Heading A1M. [Also in Division A5] A removable sponge for intravaginal administration in domestic animals is impregnated with an ovulation-controlling dosage of one or more 9α-halo steriods (other than the 9α -fluoro-17α-alkaroyloxy steroids disclosed in Specification 1,067,505) which possess progestational activity. The steroid, which preferably is 11#-hydroxy substituted, may be a 9α-halo- 11-oxo-progesterone or a 9α-halo-1#- hydroxy-progesterone where the halogen substituent is fluorine, chlorine or bromine. The process of administration of the progestational compound to a domestic animal, in particular to a domestic farm animal, and the control thereby of the fertility of the animal are as disclosed in the parent Specification 1,067,505.
