Abstract
1,139,467. Water fountains. K. KAWAMURA, Y. KAWAMURA and K. KAWAMURA. April 12, 1966, No.15867/66. Heading F1X. [Also in Divisions B1 and B2] A water fountain includes nozzles connected to a water supply pipe having a solenoid valve therein, illuminating means for each projected water column, a performance mechanism arranged as an organ keyboard whereby the selection and control of the nozzles is effected through electrical relays, electrical time delay circuits which keep the water column illuminated until it has completely diminished and electrical control circuits for varying the colour and intensity of illumination. A water fountain 1, Fig. 1, has fountain groups W 1 ... W 11 having individual mouth pieces as shown in Figs. 4, 5 and 6 (not shown) each having coloured illuminating means W L such as light bulbs having colour filters. Control board 2 has keys P 1 , P 2 , P 3 and pedals P 4 , P 5 to select fountain groups. Fountain operations are held by depressing holding keys PH 1 , PH 2 , PH 3 and pedals PH 4 , PH 5 . Buttons Q control colour selection and buttons T control the water column height. Buttons S 1 .. S 12 control relays which compose combinations of fountains. Operation. Button Q is depressed to operate colour selective relay 3 thereby changing the colour of the selected fountain group by simultaneous operation of relay RS with one of relays 3Re, 3Gr, 3Bl or 3Ye which are in series with individual rheostats SRe, SGr, SBl and SYe, the latter being adjusted by knobs 5. If a key switch e. g. K 1 is depressed by operation of a key or pedal of operating board 2, relay L 1 is energized to close contact a to energize solenoid valve E V, to admit water to an appropriate nozzle. Time delay circuit D 1 is also energized and relay L' 1 is held energized until the water column is completely diminished. When contacts e and f of relay L' 1 are closed the holding relay L" 1 and colour relay L'" 1 will be energized to close contacts g 1 and contact b 1 . In each group of water columns there is a pre-assigned column light bulb thus closure of contact b 1 in colouring relay L"' 1 causes illumination of red light bulb Re. This illumination remains after key switch K 1 is opened until the water column is diminished thereafter the circuit is opened when relay L' 1 is de-energized. The pre-assigned colour can be changed by pressing button Q to energize relay 3 and colour change-over relay R S to open the pre-assigned colour circuit at contact d 1 of relay R S and at the same time the circuit for the desired colour is selected. Holding keys PH 1 to PH 5 co-operate with switches H and holding is released by opening normally-closed switches I. Holding circuit contacts c between switches H and I are controlled by auxiliary relays L 1 , L 2 ... L. Combinations of water columns can be obtained without operation of individual keys or pedals by energization of appropriate relays S' 1 to S' 12 whilst a key switch e.g. K 1 , is energized by which means the circuit of auxiliary relay L n is also energized via selenium rectifiers SL' 1 or SL' 1 and SL' 11 as if the key switch Kn were closed thus multi-column operation of the fountains is produced without using any one of the keys or pedals on board 2. The individual nozzles are mounted by a ball joint 8, Fig. 2A to a water supply tube 6, a water guide cylinder 11 having air inlet openings 12 being fixed to nozzle 7 within a hood 13 having an intake opening 13'. The nozzles may have a straight flattened outlet 14, or a curved flattened outlet Fig. 3A (not shown), or curved narrow outlets Figs. 4, 5 (not shown) or a plurality of small holes in a cylindrical mouth Fig. 6 (not shown).
