A radial cord carcass tyre with a tread reinforcing belt is shaped in a single step from flat band form by interposing between the carcass 1<SP>11</SP> and the belt a rubber layer 5, the belt being formed of cross-laid cord 2<SP>11</SP> having a cord angle in the shaped curved tyre of between 20 and 30 degrees to the circumferential.
