Nails, barbed.-To prevent the withdrawal of a flat barbed nail used for securing U-shaped safety clamps binding together wooden planks, lids of chests, &c., the nail at its head is provided with an extension d which is weakened at its base by lateral incisions c, or by notches or round or rectangular holes. The weakened extension is strong enough to receive blows, but is severed if an attempt is made to withdraw the nail.
