Abstract

1,137,794. Earth-moving, bowl type scraper. GENERAL MOTORS CORP. 29 June, 1967 [5 July, 1966], No. 30082/67. Heading B1F. In a bowl type scraper having a two part ejector 50 consisting of a rear arcuate part 54 pivotable about a transverse, horizontal axis 60 and a front floor part 52 pivoted at 64 to the front edge of the rear part so that as the rear part is swung upwards and rearwards by hydraulically actuable jacks 78 the front part moves rearwards to allow of the formation of a gap in the bottom of the bowl of the scraper for discharge of material therefrom, the front part is so guided during its rearward travel that a thrust thereon is developed by the material resting on the part and the thrust is directed rearwards against the part 54 to augment the action of the jacks. The guidance means involves rearwardly and downwardly directed ramps 69 mounted on the sides of the bowl and as the leading side portions of the front part are urged down these ramps during initial rearward movement of the front part by the rear part 54 the desired thrust by the front part on the rear part is created.
