Abstract
1,137,132. F.M. receiver. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 2 Feb., 1966 [4 Feb., 1965], No. 4850/65. Headings H3A and H3R. A frequency modulation receiver comprises a tuner and frequency changer 2, an I.F. amplifier 3, a squarer 4, which may include a limiter, for squaring the I.F. signal, a differentiator 5 for deriving a series of short negative and positive pulses from the squared signal, a monostable pulse generator 6 triggered into its unstable state by pulses of one polarity and a switching circuit 7 controlled by the output of the pulse generator which controls the direction of current flow through a speaker 8. The switching circuit includes a pair of transistors acting as switches one of which is closed to feed current through the speaker in one direction during the occurrence of the control pulse and the other is closed to feed current in the opposite direction during the intervals between the pulses. The pulse generator is designed to supply an output pulse having a fixed duration equal to half the time period of the I.F. signal.
