Abstract

1,136,461. Multi-position-display devices. WANG LABORATORIES Inc. 11 April, 1967 [15 June, 1966], No. 16453/67. Heading G5C. A multi - position display device comprises (a) a multielectrode indicator 82-100 for each display position, each of which may, for example, form an illuminated representation of the digits 0-9 when the appropriate electrodes are energized, each such indicator having each of. its cathodes linked with the corresponding cathodes of all the other indicators, (b) a storage register 18 for storing information relating to the symbols to be displayed, and having a number of stages which correspond to the .number of display positions, and which are all scanned sequentially, (c) a position register .20 which identifies which of the anodes of indicators (a) are to be energized at any particular point in the sequence, and (d) a clock pulse source 22 which synchronises registers (b) and (c). In addition to the digital positions, an indicator position 80 for + and - is provided as well as decimal point position indicators 58-76. One of the latter precedes each multi-electrode indicator (a) but only one is energized in each sequence; these too are controlled by position register (b). Detailed circuit diagrams are provided.
