Abstract
1,136,452. Digital transmission systems. COMPAGNIE FRANCAISE THOMSON HOUSTON - HOTCHKISS BRANDT. 18 April, 1966 [21 April, 1965], No. 16972/66. Addition to 1,136,282. Heading H4P. In a data transmission system of the type described in the parent Specification the receiver comprises a shift register which passes received characters to a second register, the parallel output of the second register passing to output terminals only if no error has been detected in the character transmitted immediately after the character at present in the second register. As described each character has a total number of 1-bits which is odd and a total number of 1-bits in odd positions which is odd. The receiver makes an odd/even count of these two groups of 1-bits. The received signal is also checked for analog errors, e.g. by inspection of the signal amplitude.
