Abstract

1,136,255. Collimators. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 20 March, 1967 [28 March, 1966], No. 13584/66. Heading H5R. A collimator for X-rays and gamma ray radiation comprises an array of spaced parallel screens S 1 to S5 having aligned slit apertures A1 to A5 of progressively varying width together with magnets M1 to M4 and M5 to M8 between at least some of the screens on opposite sides of the beam path arranged to produce a magnetic field across the beam path to deflect the electrons laterally so that they are intercepted by the screens. The slit apertures may extend vertically over part of the height of the screens as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the former illustrating an end elevation of a collimator, and the latter a horizontal section of said collimator. The magnetic field may be arranged as shown to deflect the electrons vertically so that they impinge on the screens or other parts of the collimator.
