Abstract
1,135,605. Reciprocating generators. O. C. SELDEN. 11 March, 1966, No. 10783/66. Heading H2A. In a coding pulse generator, for data processing having a magnetic circuit comprising a core 8 surrounded by an output coil 9, a permanent magnet 7 and a movable armature 10 the armature is actuated by a key 1 and the coil 9 is connected to a coding circuit which produces the code combination of pulses corresponding to the character associated with the key. On depressing the key, slot 12 engages the free end of the armature and the armature snaps across the poles of the magnet and core due to the toggle action of spring 13. When pressure is removed from the key, the armature and key are returned by spring 4. The output coil may provide an input to apparatus for recording characters in binary form on a magnetizable tape or perforated strip or may be used to operate electronic switches. A plurality of coding generators may be provided, the keys of which form a keyboard.
