Abstract
1,135,066. Refrigerating. PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN N.V. 7 March, 1966 [10 March, 1965], No. 9889/66. Heading F4H. In a cold gas refrigerator in which the expansion piston 6, 7, 20, expansion space 8, freezer 11, regenerator 14, 15, 22, cooler 13, compression space 5 and compression piston 2 are arranged coaxially, additional expansion spaces 10, 21 surround the expansion piston and communicate through ducts 16, 23 with the regenerator. The arrangement may be as shown or there may be a single additional expansion space corresponding to a single step on the expansion cylinder, Fig. 1 (not shown), or, in a further embodiment, Fig. 3 (not shown), the expansion piston may move in unison with a circular array of further pistons 37 surrounding the expansion piston and moving in additional expansion spaces 41 which are in thermal communication with the main expansion cylinder.
