Abstract

1,134,922. Drying webs. E. U. SCHLUNDER: 22 April, 1966 [23 April, 1965], No. 17650/66. Heading F4G. [Also in Division D1] Drying gas is projected from a nozzle vertically against a web of material and the gas after impingement is deflected so as to at least partially support members in a floating manner to create turbulence in order to enhance the efficiency of heat exchange. The floating members may comprise wires running parallel to the surface of the web which wires are of such shape, thickness and profile to be retained in position solely or partially by the aerodynamic forces of the gas, and vibratory means inducing oscillatory motion of the members may be utilized.
