Abstract

1,134,921. Charging vehicles or containers. A. TALENTI. 24 Feb., 1966 [17 Nov., 1965], No. 8122/66. Heading B8E. A loading device for a vehicle or stationary container comprises a door 1, Fig. 3, mounted on a shaft B rotatably supported in a frame which is mounted on a shaft A rotatably supported on the vehicle, the door 1 having an opening 2, Fig. 1, corresponding to openings in receptacles to be emptied. The door 1 has a part 3 on which the receptacles rest and the opening 2 is normally closed by a flap 4 pivotally mounted on the shaft B at 5. A hood 6 having flanks 7 is rotatably mounted on the shaft A, its movement being limited by projections 9 and 10 thereon, and the flap 4 is connected to the flanks 7 by telescopic arms 13, the shortest length of which is that shown in Fig. 3. The shaft A carries levers 19, Fig. 2, loaded by springs 17 surrounding rods 18, and the shaft B carries levers 25 loaded by Belleville washers 21 carried on rods (22), Fig. 6 (not shown). In operation, a receptacle is carried upwardly by a device (not shown) to abut the door 1 and rotate it and its frame about the shaft A. The arms 13 cause the flap 4 to rotate about the shaft B, Fig. 4 (not shown). Rotation of the door 1 and its frame is continued until the latter engages abutments 11 on the hood 6 which is then rotated to its terminal position, Fig. 5 (not shown). The rotation of the shaft A loads the springs 17 so that they will return the door 1 and its frame to their initial position shown in Fig. 3. For charging bulky objects such as boxes or cases the door 1, the flap 4 and the shaft B are rotated by pushing on handles 26 provided on the door 1. The levers 25 are rotated with the shaft B and compress the washer 21 until a past-dead-centre position is reached when the washers move the door 1 and the flap 4 to their fully open position, Fig. 7 (not shown). The door 1 and the flap 4 are returned to their initial position by pulling on the handles 26. Alternatively, the door is operated by fluid power means. Abutments 27 on the hood 6 co-operate with the door 1 so that the latter can only be rotated with the shaft B when in the position shown in Fig. 3. The arms 13 may be dispensed with, the flap being operated by gravity.
