Abstract

1,133,988. Piston extrusion apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Nov. 24, 1965 [Dec. 21, 1964], No.49999/65. Heading F1R. [Also in Division F2] The piston for an extrusion gun cartridge is resilient and has a tapered cartridge wall engaging portion 13 terminating in a lip 14, a dome shaped head portion 16 being joined to the portion 13 by a resilient portion 18. The central portion of the dome 16 is supported by an annular rib 17. The arrangement is such that force on the portion by an actuating plate 27 or fluid-pressure bulges the dome outwardly, to cause the lip 14 to engage the cartridge wall and to force the cartridge contents from the nozzle 11. When the force is relieved the dome returns to the usual position and pressure in the cartridge is relieved.
