Abstract

1,133,955. Shovel loaders. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER CO. 2 Dec., 1965 [23 Dec., 1964], No. 51179/65. Heading E1F. A hydraulic power system for a tractormountable loader having a vertically swing- able boom is such that high pressure, low speed actuation of the boom swinging means 16 occurs during the initial part of the full range of upward movement of the boom and low pressure, high speed actuation of the boom for the rest of the upward movement. The system involves a first pump 26 of which the output is constantly available to operate the means 16. There is also a second pump 24 operating at a lower pressure but higher volumetric output than the first pump 26. The delivery of the second pump is only available to operate the means 16 when the pressure of delivery from the first pump to a control valve 36 falls below a predetermined value to cause the valve to connect the pumps 24, 26 in parallel to the means 16. The delivery pressure of the pump 26 to the valve 36 is regulated by a check valve 62 that is operated by a linkage 64, 66, 68 on ithe boom reaching a certain position in the upward swing thereof.
