Abstract

1,133,893. Hexamethyl-bicyclo[2,2,0]hexadiene-2,5; hexamethylbenzene. CHEMISCHE WERKE HœLS A.G. 3 Jan., 1967 [27 May, 1966], No. 267/67. Heading C5E. The hitherto unprepared compound hexamethyl - bicyclo - [2,2,0] - hexadiene - 2,5 is prepared by trimerizing butyne-2 at 0-50‹ C. in the presence of anhydrous aluminium chloride and an inert solvent. Hexamethyl benzene is also produced in varying quantities as a rearrangement product of the above compound.
