[Also in Division C7] The deformation sensitivity of a thermoplastic film (e. g. of polystyrene) which is heat-deformable in accordance with an electrical charge pattern applied thereto is enhanced by depositing on the surface of a uniform, transparent layer of SiO up to 50 Š thick. The layer oxidizes to SiO 2 in air. The member may be charged by an electron beam or by placing it adjacent the surface of a photoconductive layer, applying a potential and imagewise exposing through a grating.
