Abstract

1,132,681. Cultivating micro-organisms. CHISSO CORP. 3 Jan., 1967 [12 Jan., 1966; 30 Nov., 1966], No. 276/67. Heading C2A. [Also in Division C6] The growth of micro-organisms (bacteria, actinomycetes, fungi, yeasts) is accelerated by treating a culture medium containing the microorganism with 2-oxo-4-methyl-6-ureido-hexahydropyrimidine or 2-oxo-4-methyl-6-hydroxyhexahydropyrimidine, preferably in amounts ranging from 1 to 200 p.p.m. Examples are directed to the growth of Aspergillus niger, Bacillus subtilis, Penicillium funiculosum, Saccharomyces sake and baker's yeast.
