Abstract
1,132,668. Sulphoacetamide derivatives. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 24 July, 1967 [28 July, 1966], No. 33925/67. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C3] Compounds of the formula wherein R and R<SP>1</SP> each represents H or alkyl having up to 4 carbon atoms and X represents H, NH 4 , alkali metal or organic substituted ammonium, are prepared by reacting an (alk)- acrylamido - N - methylol methyl ether with chloroacetamide or an N-alkyl derivative thereof, and then reacting the product with a salt of sulphurous acid. The free acid form of the product can be liberated by treating the salt form with a mineral acid. Compounds of the above formula which are exemplified are the sodium, potassium and lithium salts of N- (methacrylamidomethyl)-sulphoacetamide and the lithium salt of the corresponding acrylamido-compound.
