Abstract

1,132,570. Grabheads for nuclear reactors. GROUPEMENT ATOMIQUE ALSACI - ENNE ATLANTIQUE. 27 Dec., 1967 [29 Dec., 1966], No. 58737/67. Addition to 994,134. Heading B8H. The grab of the parent Specification 994,134, has an improved jaw locking device which comprises a member 53, 54, 57, Fig. 1, rotatable about a vertical axis having extremities 58, 59 which hold the jaws 10, 11 outwards in locking position. The jaws are unlocked by an electromagnet 7 which rotates the members 53, 54, 57 so that extremities 58, 59 are freed from the jaws. In a second embodiment, Fig. 5, arms 70, 71 urged apart by a spring 76 lock the jaws apart by filling the spaces between arms 77, 78, Fig. 4 (not shown), which project from the edges of the jaws 10, 11. Energization of the electromagnet pulls arms 70, 71 inwards thereby freeing the jaws for movement.
