Abstract
1,132,194. Controlling travel of filamentary material. G. K. N. (SOUTH WALES) Ltd. April 27, 1967, No. 19419/67. Heading G1N. [Also in Division C7] In apparatus for controlling the travel of a wire through a galvanizing plant, a pulley 15, driven by wire to be galvanized as it leaves an uncoiler, causes rotation of contacts 16, 17 to generate two trains of pulses 180 degrees out of phase which charge and allow to discharge capacitors C1, C2 which are connected in parallel with the coils of respective relays RLC1/1 and RLC2/1 whereby if the speed of the wire drops below a predetermined value (e. g. due to breakage of the wire) one or both relays will become de-energized and stop a coiler taking up the galvanized wire. The contacts of the relays are connected in series so that even if the wire should break when contacts 16 or 17 are making, the coiler will still be stopped.
