1,131,618. Fractionating by freezing. PHILLIPS PETROLEUM CO. 16 March, 1966, No. 11541/66. Heading F4H. Slurry from the freezing chamber 2 of a fractional crystallization apparatus is in part passed to a purification zone 6 and in part passed through a duct 7 to a residence chamber 4 for recirculation to the freezing chamber. A feed pre-cooler may be included, Fig. 2 (not shown). The residence chamber may have its axis at right angles to that of the freezing chamber, Fig. 3 (not shown). The residence chamber may include a baffle (201), Fig. 4 (not shown), to lengthen the slurry path through it.
