Abstract

1,131,427. Tube joints. SUNBEAM CORP. 28 Oct., 1965 [30 June, 1965], No. 45752/65. Heading F2G. [Also in Division A4] A hair curler, consisting of a pliable plastics cylinder having end beads 20 and enclosing brush bristles 22 on a central wire form 21, is connected by a tubular, plastics member 10 to the hose 13 of a hair dryer for passage of heated air to dry and curl a tress of hair wound thereon, the end 10<SP>1</SP> of the adaptor having internal and external rows of tabs 18 , 18<SP>1</SP> , 18<SP>11</SP> , 18<SP>111</SP> for latching engagement with apertures 23 in any one of a plurality of different size curlers, the other end of the member 10 having notches 11 in which spring-urged latches 14 on the hose detachably engage, and a dead air space between inner and outer walls of the member 10 providing heat insulation. In a modification the member 10 is formed as semi-cylinders connected by cement or clamping rings, lengthwise fins provide the heat insulation, and openings at the ends of the member 10 are automatically opened and closed by parts of a longitudinally extending slide, moved by a thumb actuator extending through a slot in the wall of the member, to selectively shut off supply to the curler and vent heated air to the atmosphere.
