Zero-setting mechanism of the type in which there is an individual latch for each lever and heart-cam comprises a control shaft which is turned first in one direction, then in the reverse direction, and finally in said one direction to initial position. The invention is concerned with fuel-dispensing apparatus. At the beginning of a dispensing operation the control mechanism is as shown in Fig. 4 and the digit wheels 1 and associated apparatus are as in Fig. 2. As the lowest order wheel 1 is rotated its heart-cam 14 rocks the associated lever 13 about its pivot 9 until the other end 13b is caught up by its associated latch 16. At the same time transfer pinion 11 engages the drive to the next higher denomination. The process repeats individually for each denomination. Resetting.-Shaft 22 and toothed gear 21 are turned counterclockwise until the end of slot 33 abuts pin 34. Link 23 pulls toothed segment 19 to rock shaft 17 counter-clockwise in Fig. 4, but clockwise in Fig. 2. A cam (18) (Fig. 3, not shown), disengages the drive to the lowest digit wheel and the latches 16 release the levers 13 which are rocked by springs 15 to hit the heart-cams 14. The shaft 22 is then turned in the opposite sense until the other end of slot 33 abuts pin 34. After an initial idle movement due to slot 24, segment 19 and shaft 17 are rocked further so that the tail 16b of each latch 16 pushes at 13c on each lever 13 to ensure full resetting. Finally shaft 22 is returned to original position by the pull of spring 32 on segment 19, the drive to the lowest digit wheel being re-engaged. Sprung pawls 27, 28 ensure full-stroke operation.
