1,130,587. Polyamide/P.T.F.E. articles. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 8 Oct., 1965 [10 Oct., 1964], No. 42815/65. Heading B5A. [Also in Division B2] Polyamide articles containing polytetrafluoroethylene (P.T.F.E.) present in greater concentration at the surface than in the interior of the article may be prepared by centrifugal moulding of an anionically-catalysed lactam melt containing P.T.F.E. of particle size not greater than 500 Á. In Example 1 such a melt is polymerized in a tube rotating at a peripheral speed of 750 to 800 m./min.) (400 in first and last stages). In Example 2 the tube is first fitted with a sleeve of polyamide containing no P.T.F.E. and the melt then introduced within the sleeve so that the product is a tube having P.T.F.E.-containing polyamide at its inner surface. An alternative process also claimed is to introduce a catalysed lactam melt into a mould and during the polymerization to cover the surface thereof with a catalysed lactam melt containing P.T.F.E.
