Abstract

1,130,372. Waveguide mode filters. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. 24 Feb., 1966 [26 Feb., 1965], No. 8360/65. Heading H1W. A portion of restricted radius is inserted in a circular-waveguide aerial feeder utilizing crosspolarized H 11 modes in order to reject unwanted circular-symmetrical modes, particularly the E 11 mode. The restricted portion is joined to the normal waveguide at either side by tapered portions having surfaces of revolution defined by a curve Ax<SP>5</SP> + Bx<SP>3</SP> + Cx, the curve having points of inflexion at the ends of the transitions. Frusto-conical transitions may be used.
