Abstract

1,129,406. Bearings. BRIDGE BEARINGS Ltd. 28 June, 1967 [29 March, 1966; 25 Aug., 1966], Nos. 13713/66 and 38090/66. Heading F2A. A cage for a ball or roller bearing comprises two rings which are connected together by means of connecting members which are received in a number of slots formed in at least one of the circumferential surfaces of the cage. In an embodiment, each ring 10 is provided with four equi-spaced dovetailed slots 30 in its outer circumferential surface, eight equi-spaced semi-cylindrical pockets 20 for the rolling elements and eight arcuate recesses 28. The slots 30 are each located between a pocket 20 and coincide with a recess 28, the function of the latter being to provide a uniform thickness throughout the ring. Keys 32 are received by the slots 30 and each are provided with projecting ends which are bent radially inwards into the respective recess 28. Each ring may be provided with two diametrically-opposed radial ribs 24 and with two complementary diametrically - opposed grooves 26. In a modification the slots 30 are formed in the inner circumferential surface of the ring.
