1,129,133. Xylitol nicotinates and acid addition salts thereof. STERLING WINTHROP GROUP Ltd. 3 Nov., 1965 [4 Nov., 1964], No. 44999/64. Heading C2C. [Also in Division A5] Novel xylitol nicotinates are prepared by reacting xylitol or a functional derivative thereof, e.g. xylitol sulphate, with nicotinic acid or a functional derivative thereof, e.g. a salt of nicotinic acid, or nicotinic anhydride or nicotinoyl chloride. The acid addition salts of the esters, are prepared in conventional manner. The examples describe the preparation of the penta-nicotinoate and its hydrochloride. The esters have pharmaceutical properties.
