Abstract

1,129,021. Tyre deflation or over-inflation indicators. A. MIRSKY. 18 May, 1966 [9 March, 1965; 19 March, 1965 (2); 18 May, 1965; 19 Aug., 1965; 7 Oct., 1965; 7 March, 1966], Nos. 10034/65, 11894/65, 11896/65, 20878/65, 35697/65, 42564/65 and 9854/66. Heading B7C. [Also in Divisions G1 and H1] In a device for indicating abnormal pressure in a pneumatic tyre and including an electric circuit there is provided a centrifugal switch 6 (see Division H1) to open the circuit when the tyre is stationary but permit it to be closed when the tyre has a rotary speed above a predetermined value. On occurrence of abnormal pressure a microswitch 4 is operated, by a plunger rod 13, the head 22 of which is subject to tyre pressure, to actuate a transmitter 3 powered by a battery 2 to give a radio signal which is picked up by a receiver in the driver's cab. In a modification (Fig. 7, not shown) a continuously-variable pressure-sensing device such as a solid state strain gauge replaces the switch 4 or is provided between the switches 4 and 6. The switch 4 may be a three-position switch to warn of both over- and under-inflation. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,021,743.
