Abstract
1,128,488. Automatic exchange systems. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 3 June, 1966 [4 June, 1965], No. 24788/66. Heading H4K. In an exchange system having a multi-stage read-relay switching network and a common control circuit, the latter includes a memory in which the busy/idle state of each link is recorded on an individual core. The memory is provided with additional cores and the logic circuitry is such, that, during route searching, if all the links from one stage accessible to a just-selected link from the previous stage are busy, the next possible free link from the previous stage is selected and the links accessible thereto are then tested. The procedure is repeated until an outlet of the network is reached. The addresses of cores corresponding to links in a succeeding stage are stored with the free/busy data of links in a preceding stage in the manner described in Specifications 1,128,487, 1,128,489 and 1,128,490. Alternatively the addresses of cores in the next stage may be derived from a "translator" as described in Specification 1,126,075.
