An organosilicon polymer having at least 5 successive units of the formula where each R is a monovalent aromatic hydrocarbon (h.c.) radical, each R<SP>1</SP> is a monovalent h.c. radical, X is oxygen or an arylene radical and a is 0 or 1, can be made by reacting a cyclotrisiloxane of the formula with an organosilicon diol of the formula The reaction can be effected in a solvent, e.g. tetrahydrofuran, and in the presence of a hydrogen chloride acceptor, e.g. pyridine. Examples are given of the preparation of the above polymers.
