Abstract

1,127,850. Aircraft runway lights. A.D.B. AIR EQUIPMENT S.A. 11 Sept., 1967 [27 April, 1967], No. 41419/67. Heading F4R. A light for embedding in the surface of an aircraft runway comprises a casing having a cover 2, a light source 21 and a reflector 11 by which the light is directed on to a mirror 33 for projecting the light from the casing, the cover being supported on the joint face 7 of a double lateral wall 4, 5 of the casing and on the rim 14 of an internal support 10 having a parabolic cavity, the interior of which is polished to form the reflector 11. Sealing rings 14, 15 are provided in the rim 14 and face 7 to prevent the ingress of dirt and moisture. The ends of the lamp 21 are embedded in blocks of insulating material which fit in slots in the support 10, the leads 22 to the lamp passing through the blocks and being connected to terminals secured to the walls of the support 10, the blocks being held in place by leaf springs 32. Radial webs 13 extend from the support 10 to assist in supporting the load and to dissipate heat during operation.
