Abstract

1,127,690. Castors. A. SCHNETZLER. 8 March, 1967 [15 March, 1966], No. 10888/67. Heading A4U. A stationary plate 2 of a castor having a swivelling fork 11, and a downwardly open casing 3 are secured to the underside of a wagon &c. frame, a U-outline wing 4 being pivoted on horizontal screws between lateral walls 7 of the casing to swing downwards under its own weight to embrace the fork and prevent swivelling. A spring-urged latch bar 5, with its ends mounted in slots 20 in the walls 7 engages notches 18 in lateral walls 16 of the wing to retain the wing in raised inoperative position into which it is moved and from which it is released by foot pressure on lateral extension of the wing. The casing and wing can be added, as a unit, to an already-installed castor by means of an auxiliary plate or directly to the base of a truck.
