Abstract

112,708. British Thomson-Houston Co., (General Electric Co.). April 14, 1917. Electro-magnetic interrupters.-In vibrating regulators for the voltage control of alternating- current generators the moving parts of the regulator are adjusted so that their natural frequency of oscillation equals the frequency of the alternating current. The spring-pressed core 5 is connected to a lever 10, whose movement is damped by a spring-supported weight 21 and carries a carbon contact 13 by means of the spring extention 12. An adjustable spring 17 is used to tune the moving parts. The contacts 13, 14 when closed connect ir. parallel the two parts of an adjustable resistance 26 in the circuit of the field 23. Variations in the generator voltage cause varia tions in the amplitude of the oscillations, the spring 12 allowing for variations in the time intervals during which the contacts 13, 14 are closed.
